Reply to me Friends post – Should Superheroes Have Flaws?

My friend Sharon (aka Histrel) had a really interesting topic on her blog today, so rather than do a simple blithering comment, I thought I’d put my big size 8’s into the conversation (true fact, I have size 8 UK feet, am clown!).

I am totally in agreement that Superheroes do need flaws. It’s the part of them that makes them human, even those whose are from Asgard! Take Batman (and by the way, I am in no way a comic book person, never read one [unless you count the Beano!] but I’ve seen many comic book movies). If Batman didn’t have the flaw that he had a fear of bats then where the hell would Batman have come from. It’s in his basics. If Tony Stark didn’t have the whole obnoxious millionaire playboy side to him, let’s face it, he’d just be another generic superhero and that, quite frankly, is boring.

And if all Superheroes didn’t have the what some might call a flaw of love, then what nemesis would be able to fight back. Because Superheroes need flaw for their opponents to find a way in. You would be hard finding a Superhero that didn’t come under the basic flaw of love (I don’t classify it as a flaw, but a nemesis would exploit the crap out of it!).

As for the argument that some believe that kids shouldn’t be exposed to Superheroes with flaws, well, that’s just daft. Cause if you think about it, children see the flaws in the people they hold up to be superheroes everyday. And flaws, well, you’d be hard finding someone who doesn’t have one, I know I certainly have a few. It’s a fact of life and I’m a big believer of making the world true for children and not sugar coating it. But watching a superhero actually defy his flaws and win, well, is that not a good thing to be teaching children – that no matter what or who you are, you can achieve?

As for Superman, I do believe he has a flaw – and it’s name is Kryptonite!

Thought Of The Day: Even though I moan when it rains – it’s too bloody hot!

The Worlds First Self-Proclaim Superhuman…

Bet that got you interested lol!

I am making this statement based on no Scientific evidence, other than what I have witnessed and my CC in science at GCSE (no way was I doing it for A-Level!).

I do believe I am Super Human, with my power being to control electricity!

And my evidence – I am constantly blowing light bulbs in my house!

Literally no one else in my house ever blows a light bulb, it is always me! I took 3 out in one week once! Now, I can’t claim that the light bulbs are of the highest quality, but still, 3 in one week!! That’s got be some sort of super human world record!!

Movie Of The Day: Really had too much of thinking! I watched “The Scouting Book For Boys” and really enjoyed it, although the ending left me annoyed, like most films!

I HEART Heroes

I am so excited about this new series of Heroes. A lot of people didnt like s2, which I couldnt understand because I thought that it was great. But then again I prefer Shrek 2 to the first one, which no can understand, I think it’s bloody hilarious. Im so glad we got this Sylar back, because to be honest, he was insanly boring in the last series, but now we have s1 Sylar back. And how wicked is this connection to Peter and Nathan.

One person who I never understand was the character of Nikki/ Jessica/ whoever? She seemed pretty pointless to me anyway, and now it seems they are doing anything just to keep her in the program.

It is so wicked though that we get the episodes only like a week after America do. There was about a year gap in the first series, but now we get them so fast. I love it, now I dont get spoilt when I here stuff online.

Its been an odd day today. I woke up thinking it was Saturday, and now I think its Friday, cause we always use to watch Ugly Betty on a Friday, but now we watch it on a Thursday, and it throws me, I know that sounds kinda sad that I revolve around telly, you should meet my sister. If the telly were in the bathroom… I wont finish that lol.

It was dead quiet in class today, because the trouble maker was off. I never realised how much difference it would make but it does. He very demanding, but luckily I dont have to deal with him to much, Im am mostly trying to stop kids from falling off there chairs because they just love to swing on the bloody things, I dont know why.
