Truly Knackered

This week was my first week back at work and I gotta say, by Friday, I was bloody pooped. I don’t work 9-5, but what I do do, I actually work really hard at but normally, I’m great. But this week, it just so took it out of me, I couldn’t believe it. I went to bed last night and I just hit the pillow straight away! Maybe it was first week back feeling and maybe, I think, it was more hitting my head against a brick wall feeling (not literally I might add!).

Anyway, I am going to be enjoying my weekend off by doing everything I love to do, which mostly involves watching lots of telly lol! Revenge was back on Monday and if you remember how last year I ended up so behind, this year, it’s not a problem, because I’m actually watching it live, rather than recorded. I really enjoyed Monday’s opening episode, even if at some points I felt like I was missing out on something. I don’t know if everyone felt like that, it just seemed at times they were talking about stuff as if I should know it but I didn’t, unless it’s just my memory failing me, I don’t know. Then on Wednesday I watched the new series “The Tomorrow People”, which I enjoyed so much more than I thought I would. I don’t for obvious birth date reasons remember the 70’s series of the same name and don’t for some reason remember the 90’s revival of it either. Some people are saying that it’s in the possibility to be cancelled area, which I hope not, because if the rest of the episodes are just as good as the pilot, then I think it’s going to make a great series.

And this weekend it will be the last episode of Sherlock! I can’t believe it goes that quickly. I know a lot of people didn’t really enjoy episode two and I must admit I do miss the long case investigation type edge to it, but watching Sherlock get drunk – priceless! I also managed to finally watch The Brady Bunch Movie Sequel too, which I don’t even remember going anything like it did and I swear there were scenes in it that didn’t happen in the film I watched recorded from TV – unless they cut them for time reasons or something I don’t know. I could be thinking of an entirely different film!

The First 3 days

So we are now into the third day of 2014 and I have to say, pretty uneventful so far. But it’s only been three days, but a lot can happen in that time. I do believe judging by these first 3 days however, it’s going to be the year of weather!

Jan 1st was very uneventful, but I don’t really go in for all the new year stuff. We had a nice dinner, but that’s it. In the afternoon, however, I did watch Man of Steel and to be honest, didn’t really enjoy it. I have hard time enjoying anything with Superman in. I watched one episode of Smallville once and it bored me to death, but I did like the 2006 (I think!) movie. I found the action so fast in Man of Steel, it was so hard to follow and bad on the eyes and a lot of it looked very fake. What also got me was that the story kept chopping and changing (what story there was), it was so hard to follow and get into it in places. What annoyed me the most though, was the fact that they caused so much destruction, it looked like the flattened the town. I know in other movies (Marvel!), that they do destroy stuff, but it never seems to be to the extent that they did in Man of Steel and a lot of it seemed needless. Also, and I will admit this, I missed the cheesiness of Superman, with the icon suit, I think it took it self far too seriously and was trying to be like Batman, which is a very very different character. Then on the opposite end of that day, was the fantastic Sherlock, oh how I’ve missed you. Sherlock actually seemed a lot more human considering it seemed like he’d been living in some sort of alone wilderness for 2 years. That beginning twist was fantastic.

2nd of Jan was spent watching more stuff as well and trying to cut my box down (12% empty!!!). I got in a little Studio Ghibli action by watching “From Up On Poppy Hill” which I got for Christmas. It wasn’t rated as highly as ever SG movies, but I enjoyed it. I loved the clubhouse element, I would have love to have had one of them at school.

Today, you guessed it, I watched another movie. I did venture out to town and needless to say, but more nail varnish that I didn’t need (6 in total!). But while I had my lunch I watched Now You See Me, which I knew was going to be a really clever movie! I feel like I should have seen the ending coming from the beginning, but I didn’t! I loved the beginning bit as well, because I swear to you now, I picked the 7 of diamonds, I don’t know how they did that. I think I heard that they were making a sequel, which would be cool, as I really loved the trickery of it.

No movies tonight however, unless I can’t find anything to watch. It’s slim pickings till next week when all me lovely US shows come back / start. You may remember my love hate relationship with Revenge last year, but I plan on actually watching it live this year, rather than recorded. BTW, I have yet to watch the finale of 90210, I’m back up by a good 10+ episodes!

The Annual Christmas Cold

I don’t think there is ever a December that goes by that I don’t get sick. Last year I had the mother of all colds, which meant I had to have a week off work, which is something I never do. I have the odd day, but never a whole week in a row, I think the most I’ve had off is two days. I am currently in the throws of another Christmas Cold but this one, touch wood, is not as bad and I can still go to work, even though it wasn’t great today working with a cold. But nevertheless, it would not be Christmas without one (though one year, I would like to see December clear and not delirious in cold!).

Christmas is fast coming round and while I thought I was pretty much prepared, I’m in fact not! You may notice the rather lovely pile of parcels in the twitter pic to the left and while I’d like to say they are all Christmas presents, only one is! The bloody problem with Christmas shopping is that you tend to browse and while you browse, you see so much bloody stuff you like, you end up spending more on yourself (at least I do!). I’m not too bad and think I have most of the stuff mentally bought just not physically. In theory, this means they are still in the shop and waiting for me, my name on them. I very much doubt that in reality!

I planned to watch some Christmas movies this weekend, but in fact, I watched 4 movies and non were Christmas related. As I was pretty much sofa bound on Saturday, I watched my cheer me up movie, which is Tangled! I could watch this movie so many times and never get sick of it! I just love the song “I See The Light”, it is one of my all time favourite Disney songs. Then after that, I watched my main man Thor – btw, I think The Dark World is so much better than the first, but if Thor is happening to be listening (he is currently sat opposite me in Lego form anyway), like children, I love them both equally. Then I also watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which gave me everything I could have wanted from a British movie – perfect.

On to last night and as soon as I saw this was on, I knew I just had to watch it. We all have our guilty pleasure movies that while might not have got the best reviews or might not be “Oscar” worthy as it were, you just can’t help but love and watch. And one of my all time favourites that I have watched since I was a kid, is The Brady Bunch Movie. I love that fact that as an adult, while I still remember loads of it, there were some bits that I understand now and realise how rude in fact they are. I love films like that, that children can watch, but adults can totally get an in joke from. I have a copy of it on VHS (that’s a video btw), but I looked it up on DVD and bloody hell is is expensive, because your can’t really get hold of it and I’m not being funny, but who wouldn’t want it on DVD. I am going to go and look in a replay shop tomorrow. And can I just say, I never truly appreciate how much Greg Brady is actually very good looking!!! As a child, I obviously didn’t appreciate that!

Caught Fire and Where’s Hugo Update?

Last night I went to the cinema to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and I loved it! It pretty much plays out the book as follows, but overall I was really impressed. I’ve only just read the book actually cause it seems I but these books and only manage to read them just before the films come out, but that’s a good thing cause I had the story in my head. There were a few if I were being picky bits missing and personally for me, there was not enough of the lovely Finnick Odair (I know he comes across as a bit of a pervert at first, but theres more going on with him than either Gale or Peeta!). As male characters go, he’s a much more stronger character than Gale or Peeta. As Gale is being fronted as a main character, he doesn’t do bugger all for the first 2 books and I always find Peeta a little too wet behind the ears! I think they cut some bits out of the movie because I’ve seen the stills and some bit weren’t in it! I could have done without the dripping water too as I need the toilet halfway through (I went before hand – trust me!) and this DID NOT HELP!!

The most highlighting bit of the night actually didn’t happen in the movie. There were these people who got moved to the front before the movie started, I’m not sure why and thanks to them, I was so busy being annoyed at them talking, I missed the Katniss and Gale kiss!!! But they kept getting up and going out and by halfway through, they left and shouted goodbye to everyone (like we knew them!). One person summed up every ones feelings perfectly by telling them politely to eff off and got a big round of applause.

And now to the second part of this post, Hugo watch!!! He’s been found and is bringing two of my favourite things together by being on the Christmas Celebrity Come Dine With Me!!! They must have known I was talking about him! I watched the first Made In Chelsea special of Come Dine With Me and I can’t remember if he was on it, I don’t think he was, but that was a good one. Please keep me up to date with anymore on the Hugo Watch hotline!!

And finally, need I say more but 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who tonight!!! More post show tomorrow!

Revelation, Movies and Rudeness (all in one post!)

I could really bore you to death in a few separate posts, but I thought it would be nicer of me to bore you to death all in one long slog – I’m just that nice.

The other day I changed the wallpaper on my phone. I like to us movie posters as the background on my phone, and for a while I had the Star Trek Into Darkness poster as my wallpaper. And for months, I was under the illusion that the guy in the poster was Kirk, but it is actually in fact Benedict Cumberbatch’s character. I’ll find a link to the poster, but to be honest, it is wee, so it’s hard to tell who it is. Poster. Ok, so it’s not that small on a laptop screen, but on a phone screen it is and my eyesight is terrible. So the other day I changed it to the new Thor Poster. Do not get me started on the US date on the post, cause I got all excited that it might be out around my birthday, until I realised the 11 was the month, not 8. Anywhoo, as I added the wallpaper to my phone, it dawned on me. I have an over excited thing for Thor, especially his lovely lovely golden hair, which I have mentioned several times, in some rather creepy as I type this sounding posts. But as I added this wallpaper, I realised to myself that I din’t have a thing for Chris Hemsworth, lovely as he is, I have a thing for Thor! And ain’t that just said, so here it is – I want to marry Thor! The actual God of Thunder and not the actor that plays him. I am insane!

Anyway, movies. Yesterday I watched one and a bit of a movie, because I got slightly bored of the second one and was trying to do something else while I was watching it, so I wasn’t really concentrating that much. The first one I watched, which I loved and again, didn’t expect to, was Blue Valentine. The second one was Inside Man, which I gotta be honest, I watched about 30 minutes of it and I didn’t really like what I saw, but I’m hoping that it was due to my lack of concentration, rather than the movie. I think it will be a grower, cause I’ve watched films where the beginning is really rubbish, but then the end is like woah! Or maybe I’m becoming a film snob, cause to be honest, you use to be able to stick anything on and I’d probably watch it. Actually, that’s still true!

Onto the rudeness part of the title. I have the unfortunate annoyance of being in a detached house, so I have neighbours very very close to me on each side. And this week, the ones that I mostly complain about on here, decided that it was ok to flick all their fag butts into our back yard. I don’t care whether you know people or not, but when was it OK to do that? I fortunately do not have the disgusting habit that is smoking, but seriously, where did common decency go in the youth of today. That makes me sound really old, considering I’m basically about 5 years older than them and not long ago, I was the youth of today. But luckily, I have the sense of decency not to do things like this. Anyway, rant over, it ain’t your problem.

As for today’s movie(s). I really want to watch the 3rd Transformers movie, because as I mentioned earlier this week, my brain is trying to make room and I do not remember much of that film, apart from the spiral crushing robot thing and Patrick Dempsey being in it lol. But, as well as the many movies that I mentioned on my box, fricking Tinker Tailor Solider Spy has been staring at me from my DVD shelf for a long time now, so I might have to actually watch it. I really want to watch it, so not wanting to sin’t the problem, I just get easily distracted by other movies. I have several books with bookmarks in at the moment, so that should really say everything.

Anyway, good day to you all, enjoy it!

My Week Of Movies

My week off is definitely going to be a movie fest, as currently I have 8 pages (maybe 12 films on each), that I have taped off the telly, backing up my box. Let’s just say about 65% of my box is movies. Any sane person would be watching them, but no, on Monday I thought it would be better to re-watch films I had already seen that I have on DVD and that while they are taking up shelf space, they ain’t taking up no space on me box. And while The Dark Night Rises and Rock of Ages (no idea why I chose that as a movie double bill, but each to there own) are great films, they are not helping my problem.

So yesterday, I watched the grand total of two movies on my box. One which I have deleted, because I will never ever want to watch it again and the other I think I will get on DVD. It really annoyed me sitting through the first movie I watched, because I thought it might get better, but it didn’t. Head’s Up, a rare use of a swear word here, but it was a pretentious nonsense piece of s**t (I might have said it, but I block it out). I should rightfully name the movie I watched, but seeing that other people like it, I won’t. But you are fully welcome to guess in comments – hint – it was on BBC 2 sometime in the last couple of months.

The second I will name because I loved it so much more than I was expecting to. I had this happen a couple of times recently, with the films The Scouting Book For Boys and The Disappearance of Alice Creed. In my Film Four Mood, I watched Submarine and I think it is such a good British Movie. I love that it was an easy to follow story, but it was funny, quirky and sad in places. The two young leads are great and I didn’t realise until now, but the girl in it was also in The Sarah Jane Adventures. While some might not let teenagers watch it, I think it’s a great movie for them and better than some of the rubbish they have to watch (what am I saying – I watch that rubbish, though I’ve never seen a Twilight movie!). ¬†I would definitely recommend anyone to watch it. Check on Film Four cause it’s probably on right now.

As for today’s schedule, I’ll let you know tomorrow.

I Literally Can’t Remember Anything

Due to the fact that there was basically nothing on the God knows how many channels last night, I decided to watch a movie, which isn’t always the easiest process, because it takes me forever to choose one to watch. However, last night, due to my weeks of watching many many Marvel and Star Trek movies, I was in the mood to watch Superman Returns.

Now I’m the first to admit, being a long time loyal member of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man Movie Fan Club, when Superman Returns came out, I was all like it’s gonna be crap. Well, now I own it, so that really tells you everything. ¬†But I noticed something last night when I went to watch it – I literally could not remember any of that film – and I’ve seen it before.

As of late, I have noticed, there are just some movies that no matter how many times I watch them, in particular, Iron Man. I can just never remember any of the actual scenes of that movie. I mean, I could give you a good story outline, but as for actualy parts and scenes of the movie – nada – and I’ve seen that movie a good few times. As for Superman Returns, well you could have knocked me down like a stack of domino’s because, basically, it was like watching a brand new movie. The only bit I kind of remembered was the end, because it was on telly either this Christmas or the last one and I happen to catch the end of it.

I think it has come to the point that I have now watch that many movies, my brain is physically pushing out the ones it thinks it has no use. But come on brain, (nearly just typed spider-man) Superman Returns is obviously a film that I will need in my general knowledge. If anything brain, push out that 4 bloody hours of my life I can’t get back from watching an extended version of Lord Of The Rings (maybe I’m the only movie lover who doesn’t like those movies) and that first 20 minutes of the Sarah Jessica Parker movie Failure To Launch, cause lord knows that is a film I do not need to remember (the only film I ever turned off!). I will admit to watching some rubbish movies in my lifetime (Fred Clause! I blame my friend Helen who I quote – wanted a festive movie!), but I do also know I’ve watched some really good ones too, Superman Returns being one, that in future I would like to remember.

But watching it last night, I really really didn’t realise just what a good movie it was, but it has given me a few reservations for the new, which at present, I don’t actually plan on going to watch. The obvious difference that comes to mind is the actors playing Superman. I love Brandon Routh as Superman and have actually enjoyed watching him in other movies and tv shows, especially Chuck and Scott Pilgram Vs The World (an underrated movie). But in Superman, he had the real ability to be the bumbling idiot that was Clark Kent, but have the strength and steeliness of Superman, he was very good at separating the two characters. But from watching the trailer of the new movie, basically, they Christopher Nolaned the thing up and Superman doesn’t seem very two sided, but a permanent version of Superman, without the Clark Kent. Now, obviously, that’s the trailer and they won’t show everything in the trailer. ¬†But to me, it feels they are treating the new Superman movie as an extension of the Batman movies – and I don’t know if that’s going to work.

Because if you are anything like me, a child of the 90’s, you grew up with the Adventures of Lois and Clark, or whatever it was, and the whole bright blues, reds and yellows of the suit, and the general comic book feel of the show and movie. But with the new one, that feels like it’s missing. It feels like it’s gone very Batman, with it’s dark and gritty-ness, and while that fully works for Batman, it works because Batman is a very dark character, what with bring a Bat and with the whole city of Gotham, it just sounds dark. But Superman is very like Spider-Man, where Peter Parker is a nerd, but Spider-Man is strong. I think that’s going to be missing from the new movie BUT as I never fail to say – I AM ALWAYS WRONG AND I DON’T ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!

I really liked Kate Bosworth in this movie too, because even though she’s quite slight, her Lois isn’t a damsel in distress character, she’s quite normal. I actually thought all the way through this movie that I’ve never seen her in anything else, but I totally have. I’ve seen Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, which was a funny movie, and The Girl In The Park and I would have seen her in 21 if I hadn’t bloody deleted it when I got a bit clicker happy with my TV Recorder!

Anyway, can you tell I had a bit of a boring evening last night or currently having a bit of a boring day that I have so much time to think about this! Maybe this is way I can’t remember movies when my brain is so busy thinking about crap like this!

Note to people, don’t read my last post on Man Of Steel, I was clearly in post trailer excitement heaven!

TV Show Of The Day: I’m really back into Revenge now, and it’s the penultimate episode tonight.

I went into Darkness!

Hello friends, she’s back again, this time with my chat on Star Trek Into Darkness, which I went to see last night. I’m gonna say this once and once only SPOILERS!!!!!

Let’s just say straight off, I loved it. I don’t think it had the same impact action wise as the first one, but I think the characters in this film were fantastic.

Loved the extra added Pegg-ness to this film. I can imagine that whenever they put Simon Pegg in a series film, they would use him as the comic relief and they do in Star Trek, but I do think he gets a lot more screen time and a bit more to do with the story – he runs, lets just put it this way lol

The story itself was really easy to follow, there was nothing really complex, which is what I can often find with some Doctor Who episodes, and again, lets just say I easily get confused! I really liked that they went against the curve and that all the action wasn’t at the end of the movie and that the ending was more of a sombre affair (that’s a bit poetic for me!).

As for the Bromance going on between Spock and Kirk, OMG, best screen couple ever. It was literally like, get a fricking room lol!

As for the ever fabulous Benedict Cumberbatch, her is just so good in the movie altought, and I’m very sorry for anyone reading this who hasn’t seen the movie, because the next comment, you will not get this our of your head. I could not gt over the fact that he sounded a bit like Sideshow Bob from The Simpsons, but British. Just listen to the voice. I hated the twist with his character because I really thought I was going to love him because he was misunderstood, but no, JJ Abrams, you ruined me lol!

But then you go and make me love you again:

We are friends again now!

But overall, I’m really glad I saw it!

Iron Man is my Best Friend

If I get away with calling Iron Man my best friend, does that mean I get to sort of combine my meant to be deep, but about as deep as a teaspoon post on friends, pretty please and thank you very much!!

**SPOILER ALERT RIGHT HERE**

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

I just got back from watching Iron Man 3 and literally, apart from the sheer need to nearly wet myself when it finish (partly due to drink, not at all due to excitement) I could not believe how good it actually was.

I went in there expecting a lot from the movie, what with the first two and The Avengers kind of hitting the new high. And it could have been a complete let down in comparison to The Avengers, but in reality it is so just as good.

I must say I went in there kind of knowing the scenes from the trailer and what to expect a little from the story but a lot of what went on was very unexpected and there were a couple of twists and turns that I did not expect. And that action Рwell Рit was on par, if not better than The Avengers. I also like that the Villain was not as cartoonish as what you might expect.

As for the ending, well, I don’t know whether to be sad or happy about it, because it kind of leaves a few open questions as to what is going to happen in The Avengers 2. Let’s just say, I really really hope Tony Stark (aka Robert Downey Jr) is back.

Did I miss Nick Fury, no, not really, it was actually good to have the only connections made through words.

As for the fella that fell asleep behind us and had to be physically woken by the cinema staff – what the hell were you thinking??? How could you have fallen asleep! Insane.

Worry Wart

Do you worry? I have this big massive problem that I worry about everything. I worry about things that I can’t control, I worry about things that I do, even though they¬†aren’t¬†anything to worry about and I just worry in general, which isn’t helped by the fact that I am very very laid back and tend not to stress about things. They kind of contradict each other, but the worry is in my head half the time, and it stays there.

I worry about stupid things. Like if I say something to someone, and then for ages after, I wonder if I should have, even though it’s nothing to worry about. I worried for ages about my little car incident the other day. And this is the worst part, I worry about things that have¬†absolutely¬†nothing to do with me. Say if someone else is having a hard time with something, I’ll bloody worry about that for them. Even though I’m not involved! I think worry is not the right sort of word to use, it’s more¬†fixating¬†on it and not stopping to think about it.

It’s not that big of an issue and most of the time, it’s only when I have nothing else to do this happens, but it’s just strange, because I NEVER use to worry about anything at all, maybe it’s old age (lol!). Once I get to work tomorrow, I’ll probably think nothing of it at all. I just find it that little bit strange and annoying.

Anyway, yesterday I had a really good afternoon of catching up on stuff. And please, do not get me started on the insane back-up of Revenge episodes that I have to watch (I think as of this Monday, it will be 9). I just can’t seem to get into it. I think I just need a day to watch them in, maybe May Day. I caught up first with my US comedy, watching 2 Broke Girls and The New Normal. I really like them both, but if they did get cancelled, I wouldn’t worry (haha!) either. I know from Spoiler TV that things arn’t looking good for The New Normal, and I am struggling to see how it will continue after this season, but it’s still good. Then I caught up on my UK drama, watching The Village (good, if a little depressing at times!) and The Ice Cream Girls. I know the last one is based on a book so I might have to read it.

Which leads me very nicely in to what is being dubbed “Coincidence¬†of the Day”. I¬†absolutely¬†fricking love coincidences! Am I the only one that finds them fascinating! It’s just like the worlds ways of telling us there’s more to it, you know. I had a bit of time, so I thought I’d watch a film and saved on the box, I had The Disappearance of Alice Creed. I was in to minds to watch it because it’s an 18, which ¬†tend to stay away from, because being a child in my head, I am literally scared of my own shadow. But also, I kind of thought it might be a bit icky in the, well, let’s just say icky in the 18 sense of the way. But, actually, I really enjoyed it, because there was a great story to it. I think personally, I could get away with being a 15, because there isn’t any sort of high bloody violence in it, I think it’s an 18 more for the swearing and the nudity (which is brief). And to be far to most 15 year¬†olds¬† they probably swear more than what the people in the film do, but anyway, I am digressing (verbal¬†diarrhea). Anywhoo, there are some really great twists in the story (sorry *spoiler alert*) that I didn’t expect at all and that’s what kept the story interest. And here is where the coincidence comes into play. One of the guys in the movie was in The Ice Cream Girls. And I could have literally watched any film (I have about 8 pages worth of movies to get through – you get it, I like movies!) and I choose that one. It was fate – well, maybe just a tad. But it made me happy.

Quite a lot of randomness in this blog, so I think we shall end it there.

TV Show Of The Day: Should be Nashville, but due to my inability to remember to set it to record, I have a rather lovely date with a man named 4OD this afternoon!
Nail Varnish Of The Day: None but I have a lovely set of Primark Neon’s that need an outing!

*A new bit here, check back Tuesday, because I am going to blog about the final of Broadchurch, which was highly discussed in my staff room the other day. I do have a theory, but I won’t let you know till afterwards (I will not cheat, I swear) but I still think the Vicar is a bit shifty! PS anyone else find it hilarious that the Vicar and David Tennent where both in Doctor Who at different times? (silence) no, just me then!
