Post Brits Aftermath

I haven’t watched the Brits in a few years. I mostly just record it, then watch the performances. So this year, I actually watch it and while it wasn’t the most exciting, it was still pretty good – performance wise.

I have this thing with the Brits that I think there trying to be cool, be nominating some acts that make it seem like there trying to say, yeah were cool, we’ve heard of them – but nobody else has. I know that a lot of those acts are liked by people, but I think sometimes they nominate people that take up the space of other acts that should be nominated.  There just a bit funky with their nominations.

One thing that does my nut in is that they nominate people for best breakthrough, then also best group, male or female. That really annoys me – how can you be a breakthrough and the best group, male or female at the same time. Anyway, that’s just me. I didn’t really mind the British winners, but I really didn’t agree with any of the international winners (they really should call it best US and a few others award really!). I’m a bit ignorant to the winners of the international one, having not really listen to their music, but I would have prefered Fun to win the group one, International Male I really don’t have any opinion on, cause I only listen to Gotye and Michael Buble (why nominate Bruce Springsteen! Taking up a good space). International female was the worst – the other 4 nominated were all better than the winner.  I was pretty obvious Adele would win the song one and while it is a great track, I did prefer others, but I ain’t gonna gripe over it. I also wish there was a bigger closing, it just kind of ended.

Anyone else think that Global Success Award was created just so One Direction would win something – I’m that cynical right?!?!?

One highlight of the night for me, was Justin Timberlake. I fricking love that song he preformed! It sounded kinda like his early stuff and Nsync which I loved. When did he get so grown-up though, that makes me feel so old. Go check it out on youtube though – I can’t find it.

So in other news:

  • As I was tweeting a bit during the Brits, I had a disturbing thing appear on my phone. My phone had as an auto word onesie!!! I have honestly never typed that in, so if it came up with that by itself, I feel violated! It also recognised Timberlake too. I love when it auto corrects words to really weird ones. It’s like – why do you ever think I was trying to type that!
  • Update on my holiday: I have completed a task I set myself. I am up to date with Dancing on the Edge, and I am watching some of the movies I have had sat waiting. I have NOT watch the 4 episodes of Mr Selfridge sitting waiting. I just can’t seem to get into it.
  • I joined Goodreads and set the challenge of 100 books this year. I just finished City of Bones, which I loved. Follow my reads at  goodreads.com/Delta88.
  • My local HMV is closing, it got culled on the second outing. This is really sad because apart from HMV, there is no other entertainment store in my town. I also loved HMV online too, it so so so much easier to browse than Amazon. On Amazon, you feel like your walking round the fricking warehouse when your browsing. I don’t like play anymore either so what am I going to do to fill my habit that is DVD’s???? Please mourn with me!

Best of 2012

So, here are some of my favourite things from 2012. I will say right now, I don’t know if all of these started or were out in 2012, but I watched them or they ended in 2012 so fair dos!

Movies:

I have watched a lot of movies this year, but not actually at the cinema, I don’t think PI actually went to the cinema that much this year. But I think a lot of people (hopefully!) will agree with me, critics, storywise or what ever you could pick at, The Avengers (I still call it this regardless of the UK title!) was my favourite film of 2012. I think it was the whole getting superheroes together from separately good films, into one awesome action flick, which actually was funny as well as action packed. You could literally stick this movie on no matter what time of day, how your feeling and it just makes you feel happier. And the fact that we defiantly have Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 to look forward to this year and Captain America 2 in 2014, it’s just an added cherry.

Honourable mention to The Dark Night Rises too, which was a suitably fitting end to a movie franchise, that shows that sequels don’t have to loose the shine of the earlier movies. While in my eyes, The Dark Night will always be the better film, being the first of the franchise I saw, I think I’ll grow to love it more with more viewing (currently sat of my Christmas Present pile). I also really enjoyed The Hunger Games and surprisingly for some, John Carter was another film I enjoyed! I have watched many many more fantastic films this year, just look back through this blog and you’ll find me mentioning them.

TV:

It’s been a fantastic year for TV, so much that I don’t have an actual stand out favourite, I’m just gonna list the programmes I’ve loved:

  • Miranda
  • New Girl
  • Merlin
  • Sherlock
  • Downton Abbey
  • Revenge
  • The Big Bang Theory

Plus many many more (this seems to be a common denominator for me lol!). Althought I think I could literally live off a diet of The Big Bang Theory if I were to choose just one! I’ve also said goodbye to two show this year that as a teenager (past) I grew up on – Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. I, even though I am way past being a teenager, need a new teen show (I’m hoping it will be The Carrie Diaries).

Music:

Like previous, I have enjoyed and listen to many fantastic songs this year, but I think one album just made my 2012 – Taylor Swift’s “Red”. I am a huge Taylor fan and this album was just pure loveliness. I was a huge of Fearless and although Speak Now was great, I didn’t think it topped it, but Red did! I especially love “All To Well”.

Thoughts Of The Day: People should really take some sort of test before being allowed to Shop Sales! FACT!
Nail Varnish Of The Day: Very chipped and completely missing the thumb Christmas varnishes!

Half Term!!!

It is half term, thank God! lol! Mine didn’t start the best yesterday, but I won’t go into that. However, today hasn’t been too bad.

Let just say, on Saturday I went a little tiny bit crazy at the new DVD store in town that sell replay’s. In my defense, I can perfectly justify the buying of those 12 DVD’s because, a) it only cost me £20! and b) some of them were to replace all the films my nice but dim sister deleted off my box. If she hadn’t turned up however, I might have spent a wee bit more! So today, I enjoyed two movies, a new one and an old favourite. First I watched New York I Love You, which I though was good, but not as mainstream as such similar films like Valentine’s Day and New Years Ever. Then I watched Josie and The Pussycat, which is such a ridiculously fantastic film, it never fails to make me smile. I do have it on good old VHS somewhere, but as the video player downstairs has developed an eating habit, I am replacing some VHS’s with DVD’s.

So what am I do with the rest of my week? I am finally getting organised Christmas wise. I ordered a few presents today, but I need to make a good organisation chart lol. Ok, I’m not that anal but I do need to make a list. Tomorrow I am off to my friends house for tea and a movie night, so some more of those DVD’s are gonna get a use lol! The rest of the week, I don’t know, but I’ll find something to do.

xoxo

Thought Of The Day: I can totally justify that spenditure on DVD’s!

Painting The Town Red.

I finally got hold of my Taylor Swift Album yesterday and I have to say, it was so worth the wait! I’ve only had a chance to listen to it once through so far, but it was all I needed to know that it was flawless! I think that Fearless will always be my favourite Taylor Swift album, but this isn’t far behind.

I don’t think there is a song that I don’t like. I haven’t had time to pick a favourite just yet, but “Red” is a great track. I don’t think there is anything as epic as “Enchanted” from Speak Now, that is either my all time or one of all time favourite Taylor tracks.

I think I’ll post an indepth thoughts on it next week, but I have already worked out the secret messages in the song lyrics and thanks to the Taylor forum, it has helped me to figure out what some mean. I love that we get to secretly know who the tracks might be about, without it being too publicly know lol!

Anyway, let me know if you are enjoying Taylor’s album too!

My Mix Tape (CD)

So, I made my mix tape the other day and I’m finally gonna post the track listing. There are kind of two bumps in my road now because:

  1. I might not be going to Blackpool any more. I might be going to Preston, which would mean we would be taking the Sheldon approved form of transportation – the train. If I took a ghetto blaster (ha!) and played the CD on the train, I might get thrown off.
  2. I have played the CD on my laptop this morning and damn things skipping!

Anyhoo – here is the tracklisting:

  1. Lady Gaga – The Edge Of Glory
  2. Maroon 5 – Payphone
  3. Katy Perry – Wide Awake (Remix)
  4. Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe
  5. Rihanna – Where Have You Been (Remix)
  6. Ellie Goulding – Everytime You Go
  7. Glee – Like A Prayer
  8. Katy Perry – Last Friday Night
  9. Kelly Clarkson – Alone
  10. Lady Gaga – Fashion Of His Love
  11. Alyssa Reid – Alone Again
  12. Ke$ha – We R Who We R
  13. Pixie Lott – All About Tonight
  14. Cheryl Cole – Rain On Me
  15. Jessie J – Domino
  16. David Ghetta – Titanium
  17. The Saturdays – One shot
  18. Rihanna – Cold Case Love (One of my all-time favourite songs!)
  19. Abba – Dancing Queen
  20. LeAnn Rimes – Can’t Fight The Moonlight

But more importantly than anything in the entire world – It’s MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!

xoxo

Tweet Of The Day: While I think it’s highly unlikely that the man has a twitter, it was nice to receive a tweet from most likely a fake Christian Bale asking me which of “his” movies I watched.

The Lost Art of The MixTape

If people haven’t got it by now, from reading my blog, on Saturday it is my Birthday!!! To celebrate this occasion, my friend is taking me on a shopping trip to Blackpool. So, if you see someone walking around with a big old bunch of Primark bags, it’s probably going to be me! I know what I’m getting for my birthday, because I chose it. I am getting a Kobo E-Reader in lilac. So, if you have any suggestions as to what my first book should be to download, I’ll willing take them, as it kinds of an important milestone really. When someone asks me what I downloaded first, I really don’t want it to be something embarrassing like a really bad chick lit book (yes I read chick lit). Please be warned – I don’t do books that are hyped up, or anything with gore or violence lol

Off topic – Anyway, for our journey to Blackpool and to keep us entertained, I thought I might make a mix CD, which is something I haven’t done in like forever! Now, correct me if I’m wrong, did iTunes not use to have a burning function on it! The problem with wanting to make this mixtape, is a lot of my newer music is actually downloaded from iTunes, so I am slightly limited in some of the newer songs that I would like to add to the mixtape (I say tape, it’s a bloody CD!).

I defiantly know that I am gonna put a little bit of cheese on there – like Abba! Twice, me and my friend have been to see this fantastic Abba tribute act, so there has to be some on it. I might put a wee bit of Glee on it to, just cause you know, it’s Glee! I got a few good remixes lately, so I might shove them on, but apart from this, I just really want it to be upbeat, so no ballads! I shall let you know the final track listing as soon as I made it.

xoxo

Song Of The Day: See the post below lol “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor “Awesome” Swift
Nail Varnish Of The Day: My Sally Hansen Nail Effects are still cutting the mustard at the moment, I have a few chips, but (and this will make you laugh), I was cutting an onion the other day, so I had to put goggles on, which mean I couldn’t wear my glasses, so I had to lean right up close to the onion. This onion was literally death, it stung my nose so bad, it was that strong!

Update: iTunes does indeed have a burning function lol! I am le idiot!

Woke up to fab news

I woke up to some really great news today. Anyone who knows me will know that I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift. And so I woke up this morning to find that not only does she have a new single out, but she also announced her new album “Red” will be out in October. It’s been ages since she released Speak Now, because I remember getting it while I was at Uni and that was in 2010. I sadly actually looked online today to see if I could pre-order it already lol! It has 16 tracks on it, which is immense!

I think this a lot different to any of the songs that Taylor has done before! I am very much looking forward to the album.
